“We really appreciate those of you who have supported our wild, creative, passionate and unlikely relationship. We have found a rare and precious thing; true love. We wish you all the same,” Joseph told Wetpaint.com in a statement.
Joseph met Persia, 41, in 2011 on the set of The Vampire Diaries and he was quoted in 2013 saying he was “very happy” with their relationship!
“I’m lucky enough, she came with me to New York to enjoy a little bit of the city. I get the weekend off so we get to experience a little of that. But that’s all I’m going to put out there, I’m going to keep the rest for myself,” he said at the time to Huff Post Live.
On May 15, Joseph confirmed the news again to E! at the CW Upfronts, but wouldn’t get into “specific detail” on how he popped the question.
“I tried to be romantic. It was a nerve-wracking moment but it was special,” he shared.
