Farrah Abraham’s Abortion Confession: ‘Couples Therapy’ Session Reveals Heartbreak
Farrah, 22, still feels the wounds of talking to her family about wanting to get an abortion at age 16.
She recounted the way she decided she wanted to terminate her pregnancy on Couples Therapy. “I tell my mom that I’m pregnant, and I tell her, ‘Here’s the form that I need you to sign, you know Plan B, you know, takes it away. Everything’s fine,'” Farrah told the show’s psychotherapist, Dr. Jenn. “And my mom starts crying and then she’s like, ‘You know, we believe in God, and you’re not gonna kill a living thing.'”
Farrah broke down in tears, trying to express that she was only “trying to fix things.” If Farrah already knew she was pregnant, she would be referring to the abortion pill, not the Plan B pill, which is only able to immediately terminate a potential pregnancy in the first 120 hours after unprotected sex.
Dr. Jenn understood where Farrah was coming from. “All you knew was that you weren’t ready for a baby,” she responded, to which Farrah nodded. “You wanting to take Plan B was completely understandable.”
“My mom didn’t see it that way,” Farrah rebutted. Now that she has her daughter, Sophia, she has changed her mind. “I know in the end it was the right choice to have my daughter,” she revealed.
Farrah Abraham Wanted Mother To Understand Scary Pregnancy
Dr. Jenn comforted Farrah, empathizing with the young mom who has been crying out for help for years. “What’s a shame is that you didn’t have a mom who was able to sit there and say to you, ‘Farrah, I’m on your side, let’s figure out what we need to do. Let’s figure out what’s best for you. I love you, I’m here for you. This must be so scary for you,” Dr. Jenn said to Farrah, who could only nod in agreement.
Farrah previously opened up about her considering abortion in her book, My Teenage Dream Ended, but she has never so publicly worked to resolve the lingering heartbreak.
