Lily-Rose Depp Comes Out As Sexually Fluid On Instagram
The snap, which shows Lily-Rose getting a piggyback ride from co-founder of the Self Evident Truths movement, iO Tillett Wright, was posted to activist’s Instagram page on Aug. 23 and ever so subtly acknowledged Lily-Rose’s coming out. “I’m so proud of my baby girl @lilyrose_depp,” Wright commented on the photo. “She decided she wanted to be in @selfevidentproject because she falls somewhere on the vast spectrum, and I couldn’t be happier to welcome her to the family. She’s a tiny gem of a good human. #prouduncle #weareyou.”
While it’s not yet clear where exactly Lily-Rose identifies herself along the spectrum, we can’t help but notice how cool it is that she is bringing the campaign’s message “We Are You” to her hundreds of thousands of fans. According to the organization’s website, the Self Evident Project aims to create 10,000 powerful portraits of Americans who identify as anything but straight. As of November 2014, Wright had reached 8,447 portraits. Although Lily-Rose’s portrait has yet to officially debut, it’s sure to be stunning. After all, she did make her modeling debut with Chanel, NBD.
Of course, Lily-Rose is only the latest in a recent string of female celebrities coming out as not straight in recent months. Miley Cyrus famously opened up about being gender fluid in a particularly candid interview with Paper magazine back in June 2015. “I don’t relate to being boy or girl, and I don’t have to have my partner relate to boy or girl,” Miley explained in the interview before admitting to having had relationships with women in the past. A month later, Cara Delevingne discussed her sexuality with Vogue magazine, admitting that it took her “a long time to accept the idea, until I first fell in love with a girl at 20 and recognized that I had to accept it.” We for one like to think that love goes well beyond labels alone, and commend these young women for speaking honestly and openly about such a private aspect of their lives.
