Elliot Rodger: Virgin Killer’s Parents Apologize, ‘This Is Hell On Earth’
Elliot Rodger’s Parents Speak: Peter Rodger & Li Chin Release Statement
On the morning of Thursday, May 29, author Simon Astaire sat in front of GMA cameras to read a statement written by Peter and Li Chin, the parents of UCSB shooter, Elliot Rodger.
“We are crying in pain for the victims and their families. It breaks our heart on a level that we didn’t think possible. The feeling of knowing that it was our son’s actions that caused the tragedy can only be described as hell on earth.”
Peter and Li made it very clear that they had zero intentions of publicly mourning their son, who killed himself shortly after killing 6 others just six days prior to their statement.
Simon, who is a longtime family friend, gave a short interview in which he detailed how distraught Elliot’s parents were over his horrifying actions.
“They have literally diminished in size. They are crippled in pain. Every part of it is talking about [the other victims], not their son,” Simon said during his interview.
Peter and Li fled to Santa Barbara to stop their son after discovering a terrifying YouTube video in which he states he would “slaughter” other students. Sadly, they were too late, as news of the massacre came on the radio while they were driving to their son’s apartment.
The British author also explained that he knew Elliot for the majority of his life, and that he was an awkward child who would “shake” when approached by anyone.
“He fooled everyone for a very long time. He was a tragic figure. He is in many ways a monster.”
