Following her breakup from Big Sean, 27, Ariana let it be known that no one owns her — as she explained in a powerful letter to her fans on June 7. It was a response to talk surrounding this recent quote of hers: “A girl can be friends with someone with a d**k and not hop on it.”

“Being ’empowered’…. is not the same as being a ‘bitch’…” Ariana said in the essay. “HAVING SOMETHING TO SAY…. is not the same as HAVING A BAD ATTITUDE. What I meant when I said what I said about not being Sean’s ex is that I am tired of living in a world where women are mostly referred to as a man’s past, present, or future PROPERTY / POSSESSION. I… do not. belong. to anyone. but myself. and neither do you.”

Ariana Grande: I Don’t Want To Be Known As Big Sean’s Ex
During a chat with with Sun on Sunday, Ariana reiterated her point, saying, “I’m tired of needing to be linked to a guy, I’m not Big Sean’s ex, I’m not Niall [Horan’s] new possible girl. I’m Ariana Grande.” You say it, sista!
Despite the recent romance rumors between One Direction star Niall and Ariana, the 21-year-old insists she’s single and couldn’t be more thrilled about it! “I’m saying this after literally 8 years of feeling like I constantly had to have a boy by my side,” she added. “After being on my own now for a few months I am realizing that that’s just not the case… I have never felt more present, grounded, and satisfied. I’ve never laughed harder or had more fun or enjoyed my life more.”
Is Selena just as happy without her beloved ex-beau, Justin Bieber, 21, these days? We sure hope she’s taking Ariana’s lead!
