Rihanna Asked To Leave Abu Dhabi Mosque After Scandalous Photo Shoot
Rihanna’s Abu Dhabi Photo Shoot:
In the images, (which she posted on her Instagram account), RiRi can be seen posing in various locations around the mosque which included stunning detailing, (like marble floors with floral designs and intricately-designed columns). Staff members at the mosque deemed the photo shoot offensive, claiming it was “at odds with the sanctity of the site,” and asked the singer to leave. After all, she did not receive permission to stage the shoot on the grounds. And members of the mosque weren’t the only people criticizing Rihanna for the photos — in fact, many of her fans disagreed with her outfit choice and location.
A statement from the mosque references the incident, although it did not name Rihanna by name. “In the event of behavior that violates the moral codes of access to the mosque, or other visit regulations – such as taking inappropriate pictures, posing in ways that are improper in the context of sacred place, talking loudly, or eating – the violators are directed in a polite manner that reflects the civilisational and tolerant attributes of Islam,’ the statement said.
While it certainly caused quite the backlash, others did not find the photo shoot offensive because she was wearing clothing that is considered acceptable in the Middle Eastern city — her covered up ensemble is a far cry from RiRi’s personal sense of style, so she obviously went out of her way to dress appropriately for the visit. The bulk of criticism came from those who feel Rihanna represents the opposite of what she was posing as at the mosque, and therefore the photo shoot was offensive — it felt as if she were mocking the location!
