One month after Ray reportedly knocked Janay unconscious in February 2014, then dragged her from an elevator, the couple wed in March 2014. A source now reveals why.
“When it comes to matters of the heart, people can do odd, strange and even crazy things,” a source tells HollywoodLife.com EXCLUSIVELY. “I’m not saying her decision is any one of those adjectives, I’m saying she did what her heart told her to. She loved him, I can tell you that.”
Janay has sprung to Ray’s defense after the shocking video was released on Sept. 8 by TMZ Sports. Her feelings for Ray haven’t ever changed.
“She still loves him to this day. They patched up that situation long ago and he apologized for it. He told her he’d never do such an unthinkable thing again,” our source says. “And he did what most men would do: He showered her with gifts and really tried to make things right.”
Ray was ultimately arrested and then indicted for third-degree aggravated assault on March 27, 2014 for the incident on Feb. 15, 2014.

The experts are weighing in on why Janay decided to forgive Ray after this scary and abusive incident. Rebecca Donley from The Domestic Abuse Hotline told HollywoodLife.com exclusively why she believes Janay is coming to Ray’s defense.
“Every situation is different. We have just seen this one piece of their relationship and it is very likely that she really does care for this person, she is married to him, and she wants things to work out. Abuse is very complicated, there is no simple answer,” she said. “The thing is that when someone is in an abusive relationship with someone, they are using a lot of forms of manipulation, trying to drag them down, saying hurtful things, we don’t know what was going on behind the scenes, we just know what was one the video. There might be a lot of other things, financial abuse, emotional and verbal abuse as well as fear of leaving the abusive relationship.”
